Flexible Portable Cord (Portable Power Cables) AutomationDirect offers three types of flexible power cord for industrial applications: Type SJEOOW Flexible Cord - 300 Volt, 18 to 10 AWG Type SEOOW Flexible Cord - 600 Volt, 18 to 10 AWG Type W Flexible Cord - 2000 Volt, 8 AWG These multi-conductor portable power cables can be used in a variety of industrial environments both indoors and outdoors. Typical applications for these flexible cables include wiring for industrial machinery, large appliances, heavy duty tools, motors, mining cable and temporary electrical power and lighting for construction sites. These portable cords are also referred to as: cable power cord, flexible power cable, SO cord, SJ cord, hard service cord, hard usage cord, mining cable, or multi-conductor cable. These flexible cables can be suspended, but must be connected to devices and to fittings so that tension is not transmitted to joints or terminals. When used to connect utilization equipment such as power generators, these flexible portable cords must have an attached plug to allow frequent interchange. These types of portable power cables are not permitted to be run through walls, structural ceilings, suspended/dropped ceilings, floors, or to be attached to building surfaces.
