The GSoft configuration utility serves its purpose allowing the user to quickly configure AutomationDirect VFDs. The user interface is somewhat cumbersome and unpolished. I do not like the way the software handles saving of offline configuration files. In my opinion, this utility should be a freeware download or at least provided free to those who purchase VFDs.

I've used many of theses cables in industrial environments and require that such cables be enclosed in conduit between enclosures. I've often wished that either one or the other end connectors were smaller or cables were available with intermittent small round connectors that would fit through smaller sized conduit. Tom M.

NOT VISTA COMPATIBLE!!! I use a fair number of GS series VFD's in my work, in widely varied applications. So I decided this software would be very helpful in that I could save individual setups for various drives we use. And indeed, the software is easy to use, has nice, simplified menus, good set of features and works great. The reason for the "fair" rating on the value scale is it fact that this software IS NOT VISTA COMPATIBLE!! It will install fine, and gives all of the appearance of working, but seems unable to communicate correctly with any drives connected. I was told by an Automation Direct tech service guy that there is likely no plan to make it Vista compatible. Yes, I know Vista stinks. Unfortunately most laptops these days come with Vista installed, and in my case, I have no choice in the matter. So the inability to use this out on the plant floor with my laptop greatly limits the usefulness of this software. In fairness, I was offered a refund. But this is still useful enough to me to keep for the low cost. But it would be a fantastic tool if only I could use it out on the floor.
