Have used these units as replacements for a pushbutton array in a mixing room in an industrial bakery. The touch screen and a D0-05DR have replaced two mechanical timers and 8 mechanial pushbuttons that were replaced at least twice a month due to the harsh environment the mixers are in. The touch screens have lasted over a year. The face of the panel after year of high pressure washdowns has delaminated at the edges and allowed a little moisture in.

Item is being used on a test project. A very cost effective OIT was needed. Very easy to program and so far it has proved to be trouble free. Excellent value for the cost.

For the cost of only a few buttons and wiring, this is a great value. Very easy to program and seamlessly integrates to the Automation Direct PLC's. Although it may not have all of the special features, for simple machines you can not beat the value this unit provides.

Very good display for the price. I have used many others from Allen Bradley and Modicon, and would consider this display of equal quality. The simulator feature of the panel configuration software is a very good way to make copies of your screens if your project requires operator documentation. Click Print-Screen, and the paste directly into Microsoft Paint. Select the area you need, right-click and select "copy" from your mouse and paste directly into your Microsoft word document. I have used this display with Automation direct PLC's and with a custom designed circuit board using a PIC microprocessor. I selected the Modbus RTU protocol to communicate with the Panel (it worked great!). I now have an inexpensive user interface for all my PIC applications!

Have used OP-400's for years. In comparison, the EA1 has a brain the size of a planet. The bottom end EA1 I used costs less, does tons more. Software has ton's of features and took me a while to learn but it was well worth it. Graphing feature is easy. It doesn't act like the OP-400's. Operation of the EA1 is very stand-alone. The biggest difference is that it is easy to drive screen changes in the OP-400's, less easy with the EA1.

The screen is too small, and connectivity with third party plcs require addittional part and when compare with the 6" micro panel, the difference is very small, So next time I would prefer to purchase the 6" micro panel.

1). I would like to see this product be adapted for ehternet connectivity. Even if it is a seperate adapter device. I have an application where the micro panels will be perfect, but I need them to be on ethernet. 2). The reason I scored average for ease of use is because when the unit is new out of the box it requires a firm ware upgrade before a project can be down loaded. This is understandable since the unit sits on a shelf while upgrades are being made to the programming software etc. However, the issue is that when the first down load is attempted, it prompts you to uggrade the firm ware. 9 times out of 10 the firm ware ugrade download will hang. This is what is frustrating. It takes me some times three or four attempts to successfully update the firmware while I am on pins and needles not knowing if unit will recover or will I have to send it back for a replacement. So far I've been able to eventually suceed in the firm ware upgrade. I would appreciate it if something can be done to resolve this issue.

Great little touch screen. Much larger than its little brother (3in) and the price dif. is nothing compared to the area you get over the 3in. A breeze to program, passworded screens, and alarms. It has just about anything you would need in a simple touch screen without stepping up to the full blown full color touch screens. It will however, require 24vdc to power it, where the 3in gets it's power via the com. cable.

A bonus is that you can program the unit, and not have to unplug the cable. No issues communicating with the AB MicroLogix 1200.

Awsome product. I selected this unit for the hogh contrast white as the plants I'll be putting these in are bright and dark and very dusty. I've used C-Mores and EZ-Touch screens for years. This one stacks up well against those at a tremendous value.

I don't usually do this, but reviewer #2 should have considered the fact that this screen costs only $299.00. How can anyone gripe about that? Agreed, this is not the best HMI out there, but for the money a few small sacrifices it gives you an awesome HMI that is fully capable of basic and advanced PLC control. If this HMI was $1200+ perhaps his complaints would have merit. AD has some of the best documentation to be found, all free, all online, 24-7. Please don't be deterred, while it is not the best HMI to be had, for $299.00 it's size, it's features, and it's technical backing are a no brainer. P.S. hire someone who knows the difference between 120vac and 24vdc, that shouldn't be a negative reflection of AD's products. Hook up a 24dc light bulb to 120vac, tell us what happens.

Easy to install and program. Interfaced to a DO-O5DR. We have used 3 units on Bio-Filters on the local sewer plant.Displays GPM, total gallons per day and total gallons.Nice fit for this application. Sewer plants can be tough enviroments. Installed in Nema 4 enclosures. We expect failures after a year or so. More expensive brands have failed in the same time frame. At a replacement cost of less than 1/3 the cost of the more expensive units we feel that this is a good option.

Simple to use and program. With power provided via the communications cable, it is easy to set up and test at your desk before application. Also, the look of the buttons are better than initially expected and easy to see.

I have been using these little guys for quite a while. They are inexpensive and just keep working. I have used color and high contrast units depending upon the application. Programming is quick and there is a lot of bells and whistles for your buck. I have used them them DL05, DL06 and A-B MicroLogix without a hitch. I have had only unit fail and I could hardly blame the unit, they are not rated to repell fork trucks during shipment.

I have used this display in several projects. I have connected it to Automation Direct and Allen Bradley PLCs without a hitch. I use this display when I need a simple set of screens for setting up parameters in vending machines or on rotary tables. I also used it to be the main interface on equipment that an untrained person person would use unsupervised. I love it!

Nice operator interface!!! at an unbeatable price. I used this touch screen to communicate to a AB micrologix 1200 on a press with no problems. The communicative was a breeze and the free software was better than expected far better than AB's Panelbuilder32. I now plan on adding the C-more Micro to all of our presses. this touch screen is a breath of fresh air compared to the other screens I have used. looking forward to tringing out the C-more 8" color touch screen for some data collection. Fist one shipped was a lemon. Next one worked fine and my account was credited promptly. Pros: ease of use, value for the money relative to competition, nice import of database functionality. Cons: programming software is buggy - simulation feature bombs, panel locks up on transfer of project if a dynamic object (data link) overlaps 'unfavorably' with another object or a few pixels are off screen, dynamic/animated bit maps are only discrete/digital (0/1) so it is not possible to make a 3-state switch (off / On / Auto) or animated graphics beyond 2 layers - very limiting. Also, no Find/Replace of database tags - ie. if you make a screen for Oven1 and then you want to use that as a template for Oven2, you have to re-key all the tags on the screen. Lots of room for improvement on the programming software for the panel and the firmware for the panel. If the EA1-S3ML does not improve in those regards, I will have to look at other possible automation solutions. But, even now, for the money, for small applications, this product is hard to beat. -Andrew H, industrial control/automation engineer

Purchased 1st item, was zapped by chowderhead electrician wiring 120Vac into 24Vdc connection. Unit not repairable, according to TechSupport. Disassembled, appeared that a sacrificial resistor blew when connected. But not fixable. Design should be more robust & forgiving. A-D should have a repair function for this. Purchased 2nd item as replacement. Noticed that the display quality of 2nd item was much better than 1st item. 1st item had vertical lines or slight shading on the left hand side of the display, 2nd item clearly did not. Assumed this was a quality control problem, or the 1st unit was returned-resold. I like the concept of the display separate from the keyboard bezel. Programming software is pretty good. Help File needs more examples and "how-to" and tutorials rather than extensive descriptions of what a function IS. Nobody has time to learn something anymore, just show me how to do it. I'll read about it later. I can see what a function IS, I need to know how to IMPLEMENT and USE the function. I found it generally easy to program and implement because I was familiar with the general concept from other HMIs. Pretty good selection of function tools, suitable for my purpose. Some of the graphic icons are too clunky and gobble up useful screen real-estate. Wish I had a few more color selections, but not willing to pay more for it. Graphic resolution should be better for such a small screen, and also because this is almost 2009. Low resolution & text font selection makes it hard for me to put in identifying text in buttons, labels, switches, etc. Get rid of the Serif-type fonts, use only San-Sefif fonts for visual clarity. Disappointed with graph capability. Not useful with so few points. Put in a USB or other suitable port on the item itself. Don't make me purchase YET ANOTHER CABLE for a A-D product!

Very good product. I am using it on many small and medium size projects. Any project that requires at least one timer or counter is a good candidate for a small PLC and a touch screen. It's cost effective and better solution then a use of descrite components. Joseph

I have three displays running three door test fixtures. I had trouble programming the display because there were not enough samples on writing the program. I am going to buy the new 6" display EA1-S6ML for a couple of more test stands I am building.
