I have used this product for many years with great success in connecting and communicating to all brands of plc's and hmi's. I used these cables with nearly 10 different brands & types of computers with a usb only port. I did have a problem communicating from a HP Pavilion DV6 computer running Windows Vista 7 Home Premium a Telemacanique Altivar 31 drive using Schneider Electric Power Suite drives software. My cable that was 5 years old communicated fine but the one that was purchesed in March 2011 did not. These same 3 cables would communicate with the Altivar drives on a Dell inspiron 9300 running XP Pro. The only difference I could see was the cable on the newer models was a lighter guage than the older one I purchased a few years earlier. Tech support at gold x said there were no physical differences in the cables. All of the cables have the same part number. Otherwise I am very pleased with this cable.

This is the best USB-to-RS232 converter I have used so far. I use it daily with several brands of PLCs, HMIs and VFDs. I have had no problems with it connecting to 100+ machines. I have used it for approaching two years now on three laptops in that time. Best thing to remember is to plug it into the same USB port each time and this will produce the least amount of connection problems.
