This sensor is in some places the cats meow. It is stable and will sense pencil or smaller diameter targets. I don't want to make claims it would not work for you on but I recommend keeping one of these on hand and trying it anywhere point measurement is not good enough. The only App I have tried and failed with one of these was as a plasma torch height sensor as the thermocline (interface between cool ambient air and the plasma ball) was seen as solid. Every time I lit the torch my control would lift the torch off the table (even with squirrel cage blowers trying to shield the ultrasonic beam. Every other app it worked on, even sensing an extruded piece of 1/4" grease seal measuring it's length on end. I cannot say enough about this wonderful little gizo, after playing with a lot of other ultrasonic options SR04, SR08, transducers and electronics etc. Keep one of these you will be surprised at all it can do!
