i love that this fits in the same cutout as a 3" the screen resolution allows a lot more useful data per screen. While it doesnt have dedicated fkey buttons, i highly recommend using the soft fkey on every screen for navigation, because the resolution allows more characters on each fkey to describe its function. compared to a 3", its night and day as far as im concerned. Made the end result much more polished and useful.1 person found this review helpful.
Great little HMI for the money!
I needed something to replace an old style standalone counter that had failed. Since I had transitioned this particular machine to the Productivity 2000 platform, I decided to give this little 3" screen a try. It was about the same cost with the cable as the counter would have been, and the connection with the DV-1000CBL was super simple: no power to run, just plug in the phone jacks at either end and it was good to go. Setup was also simple, as the productivity serial comm mode was a selection in the panel manager setup, and the tags could be exported from the productivity software and imported into the screen. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked out. Having a small screen gives so much flexibility to display machine status (helpful for maintenance) and other info above and beyond the simple counting function that was required. The screen was big enough to allow about 18 characters of text to fit on a single line, and there was still plenty of room for other stuff. The only thing that was not completely intuitive was the use of the function keys. I did not see anything to map them directly to a tag, and it seems to require a button object (that obviously does nothing without touch capability) on the screen to map them to. I chose to use the "buttons" as labels for the function keys.1 person found this review helpful.
I am accustomed to using the larger c-more screens and software. This was just as easy and fast. I wasn't sure how the resolution was going to be. For the price, I was very impressed and I will use it again where the need arises.
Nice versatile and inexpensive. Good Product!1
Second one I have purchased and this one is DOA.
Great little HMI. I am a less experienced programmer with very little PLC / HMI programming background. The software was intuitive to use, and the screen quality (resolution and brightness) were top notch. I paired this with a Click PLC to monitor a vacuum material loading system and it has worked fine, and it even added functionality by having an on-screen timer adjustment for draw and dump timers. I was happy with the features/Price point.2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
My only prior experience programming an HMI was with the EA1-S3ML. This is MUCH nicer! I *think* it is 256 color and I was able to make a pretty and extremely functional HMI. It has an integral USB port for programming, no adapter or special cable is required for programming, but unlike the EA1 it cannot get its power from the USB, it requires an external source of 12-24 vdc, both for programming and operation. But it looks great, works great, and puts the OEM unit on the other machine to shame. Yet the programming is just as simple for the EA3-T6CL as it was for the EA1-S3ML - you simply have more choices and more ability to make it REALLY what you want. If you are considering using an HMI for your next project or upgrade, seriously consider this one! It will not only work with the line of Automation Direct PLCs (I'm using it with a Click!), but it supports a number of standard protocols so it can be used with other brands of PLCs2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
