only suggestion i have is to add file savable bookmarking by rung number. to allow tabbing between sections of logic

DirectSoft is a very easy software to use. I have been very pleased with the product. Documentation, features and ease of use are a great plus for use in any project.
The Direct Logic PLC is excellent. Compared to the "big" guys (AB, Siemens, GE) it is a hands down winner for features and ease of use. The only negative is that the "free" software only allows 100 words of program. That is barely enough to get 8 inputs to turn on 6 outputs with a minimum of other logic programmed in between. The full software package gets past that, albeit for $395. The manual that comes with the software is good at explaining the various features but contains no functional help. You must use the online help from within the software for that assistance.
I have used this product in a large number of my designs. The ease of access and labeling makes it quite easy to use. If you document your project this is a easy tool for field wiring. For documentation I simply download the CAD drawing of the RTB and ensure the labeling stays up to date. I have used them for going on 2 years now and have no complaints.
There are several improvements that I have notice since I started using this software today. I upgraded from DS 4. I was able to transfer the existing programs from ver. 4. I had to copy them to a thumb drive then copy them out, but this was necessitated by the fact that 4 was running in an XP emulator. Copying the files directly from 6 was out of the question. But once placed in the program folder, a right-click was all that was needed. Also, I noticed that the link auto-detected immediately upon startup. I remember the half-day I spent on 4 when I first fired it up. What a relief. It also has remarks on the "leads" for the timers and sequencers that are already programmed. I expected to lose a bunch of that kind of stuff since the ver. 4 did not have it. It worked!!!! Looks good, has other good features. I may update this when I have actually generated a full program in the future. I wish I had upgraded much sooner!!!!
Great value. Eliminates the mess of wiring individual relays. Accommodates varied contact voltage levels with built in diodes for eliminating coil voltage spikes.1 person found this review helpful.
Eliminates a ton of wiring. Cleaner terminations & easy to install.
If you like to document your project before you buy components this Zip stuff is not for you. I you dont believe me just specify a ZL-RTB20 with a ZL-D0-CBL24-1 connected to a D0-16ND3 and see how much time you spend trying to produce a terminal to terminal drawing. If the terminal label for this module exist on Automation Direct web site I cant find it. I did read a PDF saying it comes with the module but by the time I get the components Its a little late for making new drawings. Also, these Zips add at least two more items to purchase plus they take up more room in your panel (need a bigger box?) and as far as I can tell (at least in the above example) do not reduce the number of wires I have to terminate at all. In fairness I have to say that some of the ZIP stuff is beneficial and have used them to my advantage. But some seem, to me, just a way sell more product.
