Breathers allow fresh air to enter the enclosure while maintaining NEMA rated protection. Compensators control pressure within the enclosure to adjust for fluctuations caused by external temperature changes. Drains remove unwanted moisture from an enclosure.
Pressure differentials in enclosures with a high degree of protection are a result of internal and external temperature fluctuations. In the case of negative pressure or partial vacuum, dust and humidity can enter the enclosure through the door seal.
Breathers and compensators control pressure within the enclosure, equalizing the pressure differential between the enclosure and its environment.
Drains provide a method of effectively removing unwanted moisture from within the enclosure while maintaining the enclosure rating. Dual-purpose breather/drain and compensator/drain models are available.
