Larger frame size 325 (3.25") cast iron worm gearboxes (and 325 gearbox mounting base) are available in ratios of 10:1, 15:1, 20:1, 30:1, 40:1, & 60:1 with outputs in left hand shaft, right hand shaft, dual shaft, and hollow shaft. NEMA motor frame sizes of 56C, 145TC, and 182/4TC.
Worm gearboxes (worm gear speed reducers) contain a worm-type gear on the input shaft, a worm-type mating gear on the output shaft and change drive direction.
IronHorse cast iron worm gearboxes are mechanical power transmission drive components that can drive a load at a reduced fixed ratio of the motor speed. The output torque is also increased by the same ratio, while the horsepower remains the same (less efficiency losses). A 10:1 gearbox outputs approximately the same motor output horsepower with motor speed divided by 10 and motor torque multiplied by 10. Similar performance is provided by other gearbox ratios.
AutomationDirect's IronHorse® worm gearboxes are manufactured in an ISO9001 certified plant by one of the leading worm gear reducer manufacturers in the world today. Only the highest quality materials are tested, certified, and used in the manufacturing process. Strict adherence to and compliance with the toughest international and U.S. testing standards and manufacturing procedures assure you the highest quality products.
