Ultrasonic sensors emit a sound impulse and measure the elapsed time of the echo from a detected object. General purpose ultrasonic sensors can operate as downward facing, non-contact level sensors. Models are available with discrete (object detection) or analog (distance sensing) outputs.
Category Selection
SU, UK, UT and TU series round body reflective ultrasonic distance sensors emit a sound impulse and measure the elapsed time of the returned echo signal reflected off of a detected object. The ultrasonic beam is well reflected by almost all materials (metal, wood, plastic, glass, liquid, etc.) and is not affected by colored, transparent, or shiny objects.
Ultrasonic sensors are ideal for applications in which the sensed object is made of clear, transparent or varying surface color materials. You can standardize on one sensor for many materials, without any extra setup or sensing concerns.
