DirectLOGIC 205 PLCs support specialized modules such as intelligent high-speed I/O and CoProcessors. High-speed modules can track or supply 250kHz pulse rates ideal for precise counting or motion control while BASIC CoProcessor modules interface with bar code readers, printers and other serial devices. Simulators and many others are also available.
The DirectLOGIC 205 programmable logic controller product line offers specialty modules for many different types of applications. When your application calls for more than simple I/O control or monitoring, check out one of the specialty modules described below.
NOTE: New option modules may not be supported by older CPUs purchased prior to the module's release. Be sure to check for the latest firmware for your PLC. You can refer to the module specification page on our Web site for this information, or find it in our free catalog.
Here is the direct link to the Firmware Upgrade section of our Web site where you can find the firmware revision histories, the latest files and tools required to download the firmware into your CPU.
EBC modules offer:
The H2-EBC, H2-EBC100, T1H-EBC and T1H-EBC100 Ethernet Base Controller modules (EBCs) provide a low-cost, high-performance Ethernet link between DirectLOGIC DL205 PLC I/O and your PC-based control system or WinPLC/ DL205/ DL405 CPUs using the H*-ERM module for remote I/O. The H2-EBC100 can also be used to connect your DL205 PLC I/O to a MODBUS TCP/IP client (master).
The H2-EBC and T1H-EBC modules support industry standard 10BaseT Ethernet communications, the H2-EBC100 supports industry standard 10/100BaseT Ethernet communications. All of the EBC modules are compatible with TCP/IP, IPX and MODBUS TCP/IP (H2-EBC100 only) protocols for flexible PC communications. The T1H-EBC100 module supports TCP/ IP, UDP/ IP, IPX and the MODBUS TCP/IP application layer protocol at 100 Mbps maximum.
The H2-EBC and H2-EBC100 modules plug into the CPU slot of any DirectLOGIC DL205 I/O base and support all DL205 discrete and analog I/O modules, and the H2-SERIO and H2-CTRIO2 specialty modules. All EBC modules can be configured using NetEdit3, a free Windows software utility. The H2-EBC100 also supports HTML configuration.
You can purchase PC-based control software that is ready to use with the H2-EBC100 or H2-EBC module. PC-based control packages are equipped with compatible I/O device drivers, program development tools, and run-time environments. See the "PC-based Control Products" section of our Web site for a single-source integrated PC-based control solution that ships with everything you need to make your PC into an industrial controller. Most of the software packages allow you to connect serial devices, such as barcode readers, to the H2-EBC100 or H2-EBC serial port.
The T1H-EBC module provides a low-cost Ethernet link between Terminator I/O and your WinPLC/ DL205/ DL405 CPUs using the H*-ERM module for remote I/O. When using a DirectLOGIC CPU with an ERM module as the network master, the T1H-EBC slave will provide faster analog I/O update times than the same CPU system with a T1K-RSSS slave system. The ERM/ EBC system can also support a much higher analog I/O count than the T1K-RSSS remote I/O system. The T1H-EBC supports the full lineup of Terminator I/O discrete and analog modules.
H2-ERM100 Ethernet Remote Master
The Ethernet Remote Master (H2-ERM100) connects DirectLOGIC D2-250, 250-1 and 260 CPU systems to slave I/O over a high-speed Ethernet link. The H2-ERM100 can also be used in a WinPLC system, but only one ERM module can be used with one slave per system.
Each H2-ERM100 module can support up to 16 additional H2-EBC systems, 16 Terminator I/O EBC systems, or 16 fully expanded H4-EBC systems systems or 16 GS1/GS2 Series AC Drives or DURApulse (GS3 Series) AC drives via GS-EDRV100 units. Of course, combinations are fine, too. NOTE: Applications requiring an extremely large number of T1H-EBC analog I/O or H4-EBC 16-channel analog I/O, could exceed the buffer capacity of a single H2-ERM100 module. In these cases, an additional H2-ERM100 module may be required.
The H2-ERM100 module connects to your control network using Category 5 UTP cables for cable runs up to 100 meters. Use repeaters to extend distances and expand the number of nodes.
The PLC, ERM and EBC slave modules work together to update the remote I/O points. These three scan cycles are occurring at the same time, but asynchronously. It is recommended that critical I/O points that must be monitored every scan be placed in the CPU base.
It is highly recommended that a dedicated Ethernet remote I/O network be used for the H2-ERM100 module and its slaves. While Ethernet networks can handle a very large number of data transactions, and normally handle them very quickly, heavy Ethernet traffic can adversely affect the reliability of the slave I/O and the speed of the I/O network. Keep ERM networks, multiple ERM networks and ECOM/ office networks isolated from one another.
ERM Workbench is a software utility that must be used to configure the ERM module and its remote Ethernet slaves. ERM workbench supports two methods of configuring the ERM I/O network:
The BASIC CoProcessor Module interfaces the DirectLOGIC DL205 family of programmable logic controllers with bar code readers, operator interface terminals, instrumentation equipment, computers and other serial devices.
BASIC CoProcessors are designed for use with intelligent devices such as:
BASIC CoProcessors are also good solutions for applications requiring complex math, such as floating point, sine, cosine, tangent, exponential, square roots, etc.
The H2-CTRIO2 High-Speed Counter I/O module is designed to accept high speed pulse-type input signals for counting or timing applications, and are designed to provide high-speed pulse type output signals for stepper motor control, monitoring, alarm or other discrete control functions.
All scaling and configuration is done via CTRIO Workbench, a Windows software utility program. This eliminates the need for PLC ladder programming or other interface device programming to configure the module. CTRIO Workbench runs under Windows 98/2000/XP/7 and NT 4.0 SP5 or later.
The DirectLOGIC DL205 CPUs can be configured
to work with the D2-CTRINT module to provide the following
(NOTE: Only one D2-CTRINT module can be used in a DL205 PLC base unit).
