General purpose variable frequency drives (VFD) enable speed control for three-phase AC motors such as those in conveyors, fans, pumps and material handling. Available in capacities up to 100hp, various models offer V/Hz, sensorless vector or field oriented vector control modes. A full line of accessories ensures a reliable installation.

Excellent VFD, very capable, very configurable, and at this price point the value is unbeatable. You're getting a fully featured drive with all the bells and whistles for the price of one of those generic import drives that only have 50 parameters. But utilizing those hundreds of bells and whistles is challenging because the PC Programming software (GSoft2) is frustratingly basic and leaves a lot of room for improvement. This drive could compete with drives costing 5x as much if it had better PC software. You can only key-in parameters from the laptop. For example if I want to assign Multi-function input 3 to be a Fault Reset input, then I have to enter a number between 0 and 84. What number do I enter? I have to consult the manual and look it up. Turns out I have over 50 options, and of them, "5" is the number I need to key in to parameter 2.03. And I have to do this for each parameter I want to change. All this going back and forth to the manual makes the software almost pointless. I could do this almost as fast via the keypad. There should be drop-down menus for these things, with explanations of what they do. And once that is implemented, maybe consider a general use guided setup wizard. From there, application-specific wizards (pump, fan, cyclic operation, etc). Then you could charge twice as much for it and it would still be head and shoulders above anything else on the market in terms of bang for buck. I know AD does continuous development and improvement on everything and GSoft2 will get incremental upgrades, but please fast track this. You're missing the boat here.

We have been using the recently retired GS2 dives in our products, and I got this as a replacement. A-D glossy says it is smaller. That's not quite true. It is narrower, but much taller, so it WILL NOT FIT it a standard 14-12-06 enclosure, requiring one 8 inches deep. Also, to much annoyance, whereas the GS2 had input power at the top and motor connections at the bottom, this one has everything at the bottom. So be prepared to rewire your enclosure if you are servicing a pre-existing drive system. The manual for this drive is not as well written as the last one and, also rather annoying, is only available for download and contains lots of irrelevant information on all the product range. Not sure why the GS2 was retired. R.I.P. It was a good product. Please bring it back!

We bought this unit to replace an old inverter (different make) which had failed. Our electrician had no trouble with the installation. It wasn't hard to program. My only complaint is with the software. I made some entries and then wrote the entries to the drive. When I wrote some additional entries to the drive the original entries I had made were reset. I had to write all changes in one pass. After 20 minutes of "playing" I figured out the problem. Since at that point most of the entries had been made I did the last few changes/entries from the keypad with no problems.

Good unit for basic applications. It could be used inside or outside a box. Also comes with removable keypad for mounting remotely if needed, just needs the cable.
