Soft starters lower energy use and reduce wear and tear on motors and connected mechanical equipment. Stellar SR22 and WEG SSW05 series compact solid-state soft starters use thyristors for controlled reduced voltage motor starting and stopping. These units then switch to internal contacts for efficient running at the rated speed.
