ProSense thermowells allow thermometers or spring-loaded RTD and thermocouple probes to be inserted and removed without interrupting the process, eliminating the need for a probe mounting fitting or adapter. Drilled bar stock one-piece units (no welds) are made from 304 or 316 stainless steel.

Thermowells

Thermowells are essentially small pipes, closed at one end, bolted into a pipeline or vessel, and used with a spring-loaded probe and connection head. They physically maintain containment of the liquid or gas, protect the probes from physical damage, and allow them to be inserted and removed without draining the process fluid.

Response time will be slower for a probe installed in a thermowell. Be sure to install the probe so that it contacts the end of the thermowell for a faster response. Thermal compound may be used, depending on the application.
