"I have been purchasing and using electrical and mechanical components (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motor control, motors, gearboxes, etc.) on machinery of my design for over 40-years, and in that time Automation Direct has been my go to source for the last 10. Why? Because their products are affordable, technical support & programming software is free, the quality and lifespan of the product is just the same if not better than those from Rockwell, Baldor, and Boston Gear, and the product is readily available with 2-day free shipping.
A quick example of affordability is a project I'm doing now. Customer insists on Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platform. The "most affordable" of that brand that is available is over $1,600.00! I could easily do this project with a Productivity 1000 (aka P1K) for about $350.00. Next, the customer insists on a Panelview Plus HMI. Well, that's going to be close to $1,000, when with a C-more EA9 I could do for less than $500. And is the customer getting a better product? In my opinion, no. The P1K and C-more will be just as reliable. Plus, if the customer ever needs assistance, he can call technical support at Automation Direct and get it for free without need of a "Tech Connect" contract.
In my opinion Automation Direct is one of the best vendors I work with. Give them the opportunity and you may find this, too."

"For the last 6 years and through many different industries, Automation Direct has always been there when I needed them. Maintaining and repairing automated production machinery is stressful and expensive. Automation Direct saves you money on the front end by giving their customers excellent pricing relative to the inflated costs of buying proprietary components directly from a manufacturer. "I run an automation company. We deploy robots, automation and build UL industrial panels. Many of the devices we use come from Automation Direct. In my company we think of everything in terms of it being "Maintenance-Centric". In other words, if it fails to perform in every way for our customer, then we have failed them in providing an automation solution. That is how you go out of business. "Received a sophisticated green reflective "welcome thank you " package in the mail yesterday from AD. It contained a well organized and well written content "Product Summary" color brochure with straight forward information and visuals, not overwhelming or a 2" thick catalog rather the main product highlights and concise info for the Customer to have a first pass understanding.
The amazing thing is that i was recently looking into control button stations and indicating lights, and I was pleasantly surprised that the package had a small handy "Product Focus" on that very topic with great visuals !! Kudos to AD's marketing team for a well put together "welcome thank you package - it shows how a company is focused to make the products availability and capabilities known to new and existing customers in a concise manner.
Whoever at AD came up with the idea of the green reflective envelope easy to open side tab , keep it up as it stands out nicely when receiving a bunch of junk mail with plain old looking beige white that no other company would think twice about improving a response from a customer to open up the package."

"I have used Automationdirect since I have started in the automation sector and I am very pleased with a lot of their products. I like a lot of their products, very wide selection range, practically everything in the control panel, installation of the control panel. I would like though that they would give the customer the opportunity to SUGGEST products (like a Din size knockout say for the SOLO temp controllers...slim design relays....etc:)
The tech support is unbelievable and I have not found any in the industry that is better. Always get through to tech support right away, never have to placed on hold for long periods of time, that is really appreciated. It let's us do our thing and move on to the next problem in short manner.
Also, shipping is arguably their biggest strength. Here in Canada it is always a problem getting parts in from the USA and you always worry about import duties and brokerage fees. Automationdirect had this figured out to really help their customers in Canada.
On a scale of 1-10, I would give them a 9.5 with a big thumbs up. Keep up the good service guys. It is a pleasure using ADC as my automation supplier.(Oh, and I like their tool selection also.)

"Automation Direct has been my go-to supplier for years. My fist dealing was about 15 years ago, when I purchased a Hitachi drive. Over the years the product line has expanded, and always at unbelievably low prices.
But it is not merely about price - There are some unique items as well, I have three Click PLCs incorporated into our equipment, and in fact it is fair to say that virtually every piece of production equipment has at least one Automation Direct component.
I started with Automation Direct because it was the least expensive place to buy a compact drive (that I wasn't even sure if it would work in place of a strange foreign drive - but it did, perfectly!), Then I saw the Click! PLC as a possible answer to a problem (it was), and as they say, the rest is history. They have saved our company a lot of money, our machines are more reliable, and there is simply no other company like Automation Direct. "There is simply no competition in this area, none. Sure, you can buy similar, competetive (sometimes identical) items from others - but NOBODY has the combination of innovative products, low prices, unparalleled customer service - and online customer forum - that you can find at ADC.
One thing I *really* have to say that has made a HUGE help (and admittedly has put the purchase of PLCs into the hands of the common person) is the low cost of the Click! PLCs. But that wasn't good enough for you...free software and very reasonably priced programming hardware too. For the price of a few relays you can have a REAL, fully programmable PLC.
I am just starting another machine modification. I did the same modification to another machine before I learned about the Click, and it is a sight to behold - seven relays, two timers, some of the relays have been modified by bending contacts, some resistors and capacitors have been added to control relay timing, etc - not to mention the fact that it physically takes a lot of room (but it does work). I have my initial programming completed for the $79 Click! C0-00AR-D - using less than 2% of the available program space. I can tweak the program if needed without having to physically make changes. "

I would like to see more "application notes", and a more active support/helpdesk role from AD staff in the forums. Maybe each product tech specialist/lead can spend a 30 minutes on the forum per day, in their respective area of expertise helping us folks with questions, issues, etc.

"Automation Direct has become my "go to" supplier and I try to buy everything I can from this company. Web interface is great, ordering tools like Favorites and Bill of Materials has saved me a lot of time. The free 2 day shipping at now $49 took away another barrier (I am on the West Coast - so regular ground is often a deal breaker for me).

So, long story long, if anyone is having doubts or concerns about using any product offered by Automation Direct, in my humble opinion you have absolutely nothing to worry about. They will help you every step of the way if you are new to a product. They will never leave you high and dry if there are any issues. Quality is definitely a non-issue."

"The difference between Automation Direct (AD) and "brick and mortar" (BAM) places are stark:
With BAMs, you don't know the exact cost of a part because they play these customer multiplier games. If they don't have stock in it (which is usually), they always quote 5-7 days. When it doesn't come in 5-7 days, you have to complain and cajole until they ship in 3-4 weeks. Also, because they don't have stock, they ship multiple times with multiple shipping bills. Then, BAMs bill multiple times, which drives accounting crazy and drives up costs. Finally, sometimes finding the correct manual or an accurate CAD drawing is impossible.
With AD you know the exact costs, exact stock, and have access to all CAD and manuals ON THE SAME SCREEN!!!! What a great concept! Because they have great stock in everything, there is usually one shipping cost and one bill. If they don't have stock (rare), AD is usually very accurate in their estimated shipping date. I think that I had to cancel one item (out of hundreds of items that I ordered from them) due to long shipping time.
AD saves costs and time in purchasing industrial control equipment. I use them whenever possible. "
