C-more Micro HMI Password Protect Setup Screen from AutomationDirect

HereÕs a clever method that will allow you to limit who can access this panel setup menu. All you do is create a password protected screen and on that screen you have the ability to enable the system setup menu. I can disable it or enable it. If it is disabled, then the user can no longer press F1 and F5 to access the system setup menu. I can simulate that here with a right click É so I cannot get access to the setup menu. If I enable that feature, then anybody can access the setup menu by pressing F1 and F5. LetÕs see how to set all of that up. Step 1: Create a button that will take you to the password protected screen. In this case we have created a screen change button that will take us directly to screen 5. Step 2: Create a setup or an admin screen like we have here on screen 5 where you can enable/disable the F1&F5 setup menu. The way you do that is you simply pick this internal internal Tag out of the TAG database. Note that in order to see these TAGs you have to click on this checkbox. Once you have done that then you can get access to all of the internal system TAGs. This is the one we are interested in here, the ability to enable the F1, F5 setup menu. with a push button. In the push button, select the TAG that controls the F1/F5 setup menu Ð be sure to check this box so you can see the internal system TAGs. Then select this TAG (TAG SYS DISABLE USE F1+F5 SETUP ) as the TAG you want to modify. So now this push button can enable or disable access to that system menu. Also on this setup menu we put a simple push button that will take us directly to the system setup menu if we want to. ThatÕs just a convenience for us. Step 3: Password protect the screen. Right click on the screen, screen options, password, enable the option, select the password to apply to this screen Ðthen say OK. And thatÕs all there really is to setting it up. Now only people with access to this password protected screen can enable that feature. LetÕs go back to our demo, bring up the simulator É Now when we press this SETUP button, it challenges us with a password, which takes us to the screen where we can enable or disable access to the F1/F5 system setup menu. We can simulate a F1 F5 key press by right clicking and selecting Go To System Setup Menu. Right now the panel will not allow me to get to that menu. When I push this button to enable that internal flag, now I can go right there.
