SR22 semi-conductor solid state soft starters provide many advantages when used instead of electro-mechanical contactors to control 3-phase AC induction motors:
The SR22 series motor soft starters use thyristors for controlled reduced voltage motor starting and stopping
These low voltage soft starters then switch to internal contacts for efficient running at the rated speed
Welcome to Kickstart where you get to see new products here at AutomationDirect. Today I am going to show you AutomationDirects brand of soft starters by Stellar. Soft Starters are a great low cost alternative to using AC drives. They are basically a reduced voltage starter which reduces mechanical and electrical stresses compared to line starting. The product line we have here today are our Stellar SR22 Compact Soft Starters. These SR22s are considered to be on the simple and easy side of the spectrum and we also carry SR33s that are middle of the spectrum and then SR44s which are the more complex full featured soft starters. There are 11 part numbers with these SR22s and they come in 2 different frame sizes. They are easily configured using these three potentiometers. They are Microprocessor based and they do have built in diagnostics. The Operating voltages are from 208 to 460VAC with current ranges from 5 to 40 amps. They have adjustable start and stop times as well as starting voltage levels. They offer over current protection and the frame allows them to be mounted by the tabs or they can be DIN rail mounted as well. These are great for applications like Pumps – which reduces cavitation, lowers pressure transients and mechanical stress. Blowers – the start time can be used to reduce starting torque. Conveyors – reduced belt slippage which reduces belt wear and stretch. These SR22 soft starters carry a 2 year warranty. You can find the agency approvals and specs for these soft starters on our website at : www.automationdirect.com Don’t forget: we sell SR33 and SR44 lines of soft starters as well.
