How to Build a Combination Manual Motor Starter, Introduction
welcome my name is Carrie Scheiber and we'll be building a combination manual motor starter using Fuji components offered by automation direct part one is the introduction by utilizing the UL type II rating of the Fuji manual motor starter a combination starter can be constructed and wired in quick easy steps and at a low cost the manual motor starter is classified as a self protected motor control device allowing for group motor control without the need for separate motor branch circuit protection the manual motor starter provides short-circuit motor overload and phase loss protection as well as on-off control with lockout capability with a short-circuit current rating of 50,000 amps when combined with a fuji SCE series contactor remote motor control is possible with a minimum amount of space requirements typical applications for a combination motor starter can include inductive motor starting and control NEC 4:30 and 409 fulfillment and ul 508 e type 2 coordination for group motor rating installations the fuji manual motor starter is available in 45 millimeter and 55 millimeter frame widths the 45 millimeter frame is capable of controlling motors up to 20 horsepower at 480 volts while the 55 millimeter frame can handle motors up to 40 horsepower let's go to part 2 for selecting the components
