In this video, we will look at the monitor mode of the AS3 drive. The monitor mode can be accessed by pressing the F4 button on the keypad from the standard mode screen. Or from the standard mode screen, you can simply press the escape button two times, and that will bring you back to the monitor mode. Monitor mode displays the real-time data of the VFD. The data is held during a trip condition. The monitor items include rotation, frequency, current, voltage, power torque, terminal status, communication status, trip history, alarm status, cumulative runtime, and number of starts. Section 8.1 of the AS3 instruction manual details how to program other monitor items to the monitor mode screen. The output current is displayed in units of percent by default. This is a percentage of the VFD's output current rating. Typically, it is more helpful to read this number directly in units of amps. Setting parameter F701 to one changes the unit from percent to amps. The trip history for the AS3 stores the last eight past trips. Past trip one is the most recent. Past trip 8 is the oldest trip. Each trip records the monitor data at the time of the trip, including the date and time stamp. The input terminal one screen displays the status of the standard digital inputs. This allows for troubleshooting customer controls and access to change the terminal functions. Press the F2 key. Label change will pop up the parameter that assigns the input terminal functions. This selected input terminal is highlighted in black and can be changed by scrolling from the touch Bill.
