SU, UK, UT, and TU series round body and UQ series cubic plastic ultrasonic distance sensors from AutomationDirect are now available in sensing distance ranges from 60mm to 8000mm, in metal or plastic housings, and M18 (18mm) and M30 (30mm) barrel or head sizes. Discrete and analog output sensors and models with both analog and discrete switching outputs are available.
Discrete models are available with adjustable sensitivity and one sensor can be standardized for many materials. Operating voltages from 10 to 30VDC are available; temperature ranges up to +70C are now offered on some models. Most sensors provide LED status indicators and have 2m output cable or M12 quick-disconnect connection options. All ultrasonic sensors are IEC IP67 rated.
In this video, we demonstrate how to lock and unlock (teach block) the programming functions on a UK1 series of ultrasonic sensors.
In this video, we show how to unlock and lock the programming functions in a MicroDetector ultrasonic sensor with a teach button. We are using one of our UK series of sensors in this video. If the sensor is new, it should be unlocked. In this example, we will demonstrate how to unlock the sensor first, then how to lock the sensor. The sensor can be unlocked by following the Teach Block printed instructions. In order to unlock the sensor so that parameters can be changed, press and hold the teach button for 12 seconds. At 8 seconds, the sensor yellow LEDs start blinking for configuration setup. Continue to hold the button for 4 more seconds until the LEDs blink more rapidly. Now release the button and the yellow LEDs will blink slower, then stop to confirm the change. The sensor is now unlocked, and changes can be made. As you can see, we can program the sensor's target. To lock the sensor, follow the same method by press and holding the teach button for twelve seconds until the LEDs flash as shown. Now, we are unable to make changes to the sensor setup.
