Protos X Field I/O from AutomationDirect

Welcome to Kickstart where you get to see new products here at AutomationDirect. Today I am going to show you our new Field IO from our brand Protos X. Protos X is AutomationDirects newest line of expansion I/O or distributed field I/O. The new Protos X expansion I/O allows you to easily add low-cost I/O points to your PLC or PC-based control system without investing in additional controllers. The Protos X is compact and designed to save space. A single Protos X system can save users up to 74% in I/O footprint inside an enclosure when compared to other I/O systems. The ultra-compact design makes it perfect for applications where a typical PLC or I/O solutions simply won't fit. The small form factor allows installation directly on or near equipment and connects directly to typical PLCs, including all AutomationDirects Productivity3000, DirectLOGIC, Do-more and CLICK series PLCs. Protos X supports up to 255 modules and is scalable from 2 to 4,080 I/O points. Interface modules called bus couplers are available in Modbus RTU RS- 485 and two Modbus TCP Ethernet versions, a two port and a compact single port both allowing connection of up to 64 terminals per assembly, for a maximum of 255 terminals total. The Modbus RTU/ASCII slave bus coupler communicates via a 9-pin D-sub RS-485 port; the TCP server bus coupler communicates to the client via an RJ45 Ethernet port. Protos X I/O terminals are available in two, four, eight and 16-point (discrete only) versions, and offer 12 discrete input and output terminals; 18 analog input and output terminals are available in 4-20 mA, +/- 10VDC, Pt100 RTD, and in Type J and K thermocouple. We offer a variety of power supply and power feed options in 24VDC and 120-230 VAC styles. If you want to add or change supply power to the terminal power bus; then simply add an available power distribution terminal. Easy-to-use configuration software is available as a free download. The software shows the auto- configured Modbus addressing, sets IP Ethernet address and communications parameters. Users can also set/disable Watchdog timers, reset bus couplers and more. Don't forget to pick up a communication cable for configuration of the bus couplers. Protos X has a unique interlocking design of the terminals where data and power buses are carried from module to module and used only when needed. Wiring is simple with push-in, spring clamp wiring on I/O terminals.
