Micro variable frequency drives (VFD) enable speed control for AC motors at an affordable price in a compact footprint. For applications with smaller motors, many micro drives support single-phase input power and some have high-end features such as vector control or a built-in PLC.
AC micro drives are optimal when small speed adjustments are required in applications such as low torque
conveyors or light duty fans and pumps. However, this drive category now includes generous IO and many advanced features
that can handle even more applications, all while keeping a low price tag. With sizes as small as 55mm wide, these
drives provide needed motor speed control without taking up large amounts of panel space. Benefits include:
Variable speed - Trimming the motor speed lower or higher than base speed as well as ramp the accel
and decel time when changing speed or directions is their primary function.
Reduce inrush current - Use AC micro drives to control the inrush current at motor start-up. This allows
the use of smaller fuses, reduces electrical peak load, and reduces stress on the mechanical system.
Integrated functionality - Most AC micro drives can vary motor speed and direction by operator input
(keypad buttons/speed control knob) or by digital and analog inputs (from pushbuttons/switches/pots or PLC outputs).
Some models support communication from a PLC or master controller.
Single-phase compatibility - Certain AC micro drives allow a single-phase input with a 3-phase output for control
of a 3-phase motor when only single-phase power is available.
Advanced features - These AC micro drives offer functions normally found on higher-cost drives, such as dynamic braking,
sensorless vector control, advanced communication protocol support, and integrated PLC or sequence programming.
Low cost - AC micro drives offer a lot of features and control for a lot less money. For low horsepower and basic
control requirements, these are an excellent solution to many industrial controls and hobbyists applications.

The CFW100 is a single-phase input, three-phase output variable frequency drive (VFD) suited for simple applications
ranging from 1/4 to 1hp (0.18 to 0.75 kW). The CFW100 series features a compact size and includes a built-in operator
interface (HMI) and SoftPLC with free WPS programming software. A variety of plug-in option modules can be added to
1/4hp (1.6A) to 1hp (4.2A) ratings
