Motor control devices encompass simple manual controllers, motor contactors and starters, drives and soft starters. For every motor, some form of electrical control is required, from simple ON/OFF to more complex variable speed applications.
IEC motor starters are a combination of contactors and overloads used to operate polyphase induction motors and protect them against running or stalled overcurrents, and feature components that meet IEC design standards. These components offer convenience and cost-effectiveness in one package, with capacities up to 38A.
IEC manual motor protectors provide an all-in-one remote motor control protection solution. Units integrate the control (ON/Off) function, motor overload protection, instant short-circuit trip and phase loss protection. Models rated up to 63A are available.
IEC magnetic contactors provide compact load control that can handle diverse switching needs. Contactors are available in capacities up to 360 Amps, with a wide selection of AC/DC coil voltages.
An overload relay is critical in motor control applications, whether using components designed for use with a brand or stand-alone units. IEC overload relays provide reliable and accurate electronic or thermal protection from device or component overload or phase loss.
WDP series definite purpose contactors are designed to provide compact load control. These reliable control components are available up to 60 amp capacity and in 1,2 or 3 pole configurations at coil voltages from 24 to 480VAC.
Non-fusible manual motor controllers and disconnects are perfect for safely controlling and disconnecting motors. UL 508 rated open-frame and enclosed disconnect switches are listed as “Suitable as Motor Disconnect”, performing two functions in one compact package.
Motor reversing cam switches allow smooth motor direction change. These door-mounted rotary cam switches, in amperage capacities up to 32A (15 to 20hp), are available with up to 3 poles, with a 5kA SCCR rating.
Transfer (changeover) cam switches provide smooth transfer of motor operation to another. These door/panel mounted rotary cam switches, in amperage capacities up to 80A (15 to 40hp), are available with up to 3 poles, with a 5kA SCCR rating.
VFDs - Variable Frequency Drives
(1/4 hp to 100 hp)
AutomationDirect carries a range of AC variable frequency drives (VFD) for motor speed control and other industrial control applications. The high quality and low prices make our GS1 series mini AC drives and GS2 series micro variable speed drives an incredible deal. The DURApulse (GS3 series) sensorless vector AC drives can handle applications from 1 horsepower up to 100 horsepower.
These IronHorse DC drives can accommodate 1/50 hp @ 12VDC all the way up to 3hp @ 240VAC. DC motors and drives can provide several advantages and benefits over AC:
