Need a dedicated Motion Controller?
The LS Electric XMC motion controller builds further on the XGB family of hardware. These brick-style controllers have a full complement of built-in I/O, including 2 encoder inputs to enable full-closed-loop control. With 4 CPU models, XMC also offers built-in control of 8 or 16 axes of EtherCAT motion and allows control of up to 32 EtherCAT I/O racks (using the XEL-BSSCT bus coupler and XGB I/O modules). And the XMC uses the same XG5000 programming software to leverage your intellectual investment.

XGB PLCs with embedded I/O can act as standalone controllers or can be expanded with multiple I/O expansion modules. The powerful CPU offers up to 6 axes of motion control (depending on model) using up to 32 built-in I/O points with high-speed capability, and robust communications support.
XMC brick style motion controllers with embedded I/O can function as standalone units, providing built-in EtherCAT Master and a generous selection of discrete and analog I/O onboard. These powerful controllers can control up to 8 or 16 axes of EtherCAT motion (depending on model) AND up to 32 EtherCAT remote I/O racks when paired with the XEL-BSSCT bus coupler. They even include two encoder input channels to enable full-closed-loop control.
XGB bus couplers are ideal for systems where components are separated by large distances or where an extreme amount of I/O is needed. With these couplers, remote I/O can be located separately from the CPU and linked through EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP or EtherCAT communication (supported protocols dependent on model chosen).
XGB discrete DC I/O modules monitor ON/OFF signals or control devices that switch DC power (12 or 12-24 VDC), such as discrete sensors, solenoid valves, or lights. High-density input and output modules with up to 32 points and a combination input/output module are available.
The XGB AC I/O module monitors ON/OFF devices that operate with AC power (120 VAC), such as sensors, pilot devices, and motor contactors.
XGB relay modules can operate DC or AC rated devices (125 VDC / 250 VAC). Modules are available with up to 16 Form A (normally open) relay contacts.
XGB analog I/O modules monitor or supply the signals needed for precise control of a process, such as level or pressure, in ranges including 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, and 0-10 VDC. Current/voltage input, current output, voltage output, and a combination input/output model are available.
XGB PLCs have several built-in communication ports; optional expansion modules can provide additional protocols including EtherNet/IP.
XGB motion and specialty modules perform advanced functions that are out of the realm of standard I/O.
High-speed counter input expansion modules offer additional high-speed capability with up to 500 kHz switching frequency
EtherCAT positioning modules provide extremely accurate motion control using Ethernet transmission media
Connections for the 32-point expansion modules and 32-point PLC units are made using specially designed Smart Link terminal blocks and connection cables. These cables and connectors provide readily accessible terminals for field I/O signals, organized wireways, and easily traceable I/O connections.
Accessories for the LS Electric PLCs and motion controllers include a variety of replacement terminal blocks. XG5000 software features many of the IEC programming languages along with motion axis and servo drive setup/testing applications. Software can be downloaded for free or purchased on a USB drive.
