XGB series motion and specialty modules add advanced motion functions beyond the CPU's built-in I/O. EtherCat modules allow connection to up to 16 EtherCat-enabled servo systems, for advanced motion control. High-speed counter input modules add I/O capacity with up to 500 kHz switching frequency.

LS Electric PLCs - Motion & Specialty Modules
Applications that require precise positioning or coordinated movements need modules capable of accurately tracking and supplying high-frequency pulse trains. LS Electric XGB PLCs offer many motion control capabilities and several expansion modules are available to add more high-speed inputs and/or EtherCAT positioning.

High-speed Counter Expansion Modules
High-speed counter expansion modules are available to detect extremely fast input pulses, such as encoder signals, for accurate pulse/position tracking.
- 200kHz or 500kHz models available
- 2 high-speed input point(s)
- 2-channel, single-ended (200kHz model) or differential (500kHz model) encoder input(s)
- Linear and ring count modes
- 1-phase, 2-phase, and CW/CCW input pulse modes
- Auxiliary functions include count clear, count latch, section count, measurement of input frequency, measurement of counts per hour, and count prohibited function

EtherCAT Positioning Expansion Modules
EtherCAT (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology) is an Ethernet fieldbus that provides industry-leading performance, flexibility, and cost advantages. The functional principle - processing data on the fly - makes EtherCAT extremely fast and capable of real-time, deterministic communication with virtually unlimited nodes that can be synchronized for the highest precision. With EtherCAT positioning expansion modules, easily add multiple axes of EtherCAT-controlled motion to the XGB PLC.
