Capacitive sensors detect both metal and non-metal objects, can sense through insulating materials, and are often used to detect fill levels of liquids, pellets, and powders through container walls. They are available in round (tubular) or rectangular shapes, with sensing distances up to 40mm.

Capacitive proximity sensors are non-contact sensors that generate an electrostatic field to detect metal and non-metal objects. Using two conduction plates, they sense the change in capacitance when an object moves within their sensing range. They can even sense through insulating materials, such as wood or plastic, and offer an ideal solution for non-invasive detection of liquid, pellet, and powder levels as they can be mounted externally and sense through storage container walls. Flush-mounted sensors are embeddable, while non-flush sensors allow longer sensing distances, are non-embeddable, and their sensing face must protrude from the mounting substrate.

8mm round stainless-steel housed capacitive proximity sensors offer sensing distances up to 3mm (depending on mounting style) and easy potentiometer adjustment.
12mm round stainless-steel housed capacitive proximity sensors offer sensing distances up to 12mm (depending on mounting style), with easy potentiometer adjustment.
18mm round plastic-housed capacitive proximity sensors, many with IP69K rating, offer sensing distances up to 15mm (depending on mounting style), with potentiometer or pushbutton adjustment.
30mm round capacitive proximity sensors, with metal or plastic housings, offer sensing distances up to 40mm (depending on mounting style), with potentiometer or pushbutton adjustment and protection ratings up to IP69K.
Small rectangular capacitive proximity sensors have a low-profile (20 x 14 x 48mm) plastic housing, ideal for sight glass applications, and offer a sensing distance of 12mm with pushbutton teach for easy setup.
A variety of mounting brackets and adapters are available for affixing capacitive proximity sensors including axial, right-angle, and swivel-mount brackets with plastic, plated-steel, or stainless-steel constructions. Spare hex nuts are also available.
Sensor testers save time by determining if a sensor is functional before installation. This unit is lightweight and compact so it can be stored in a desk drawer and carried in a pocket. It includes a rechargeable battery and micro-USB charging cable.
