Linear motion slides and actuators are used to perform movements along a straight line. To do this, actuators convert the rotary motion of a motor into a linear displacement along an axis. This conversion is accomplished using ball screws, lead screws, or belts.
To achieve more than one axis of motion, several linear motion slides and actuators can be used together in a gantry system to achieve X-Y and X-Y-Z configurations.

Ball screw driven linear actuators utilize ball bearings that are continuously circulated in between the ball nut and the shaft. These actuators are designed for light and heavy loads and provide high-performance linear motion at high speeds and duty cycles.
Couplings and hardware to mount small NEMA frame stepper and SureServo motors are available, as well as hardware to attach multiple units to create motion in two or three axes of movement.
Lead screw driven linear actuators perform the same action as ball screw actuators but at a much lower cost. These actuators force a nut to slide along a threaded shaft. Lead screw actuators are ideal for vertical applications and are designed for light and heavy loads.
Couplings and hardware to mount small NEMA frame stepper and SureServo motors are available, as well as hardware to attach units together to create motion in two or three axes of movement.
Belt driven linear actuators utilize a toothed belt mounted between two pulleys to provide simple, dependable linear motion over a longer distance.
Couplings and hardware to mount small NEMA frame and SureServo motors are available, as well as hardware to create up to three axes of movement.
Undriven , non-actuated, linear slides are used to provide stability in multi-axis systems. Mounting these slides parallel with an axis allows for additional support along the length of travel.
