Motor Disconnects & Controllers
Category Selection
Motor controllers are used to switch loads on or off with operator controls. Because of their design, these motor controllers are listed as a Suitable Motor Disconnect under UL Standard 508, which means they can reliably perform both motor control and disconnect functions, all in one compact package.
- A motor controller is used to switch a motor load "ON" or "OFF" and perform this function thousands of times
- A motor disconnect is designed and tested to withstand motor overloads and high short-circuit fault currents while maintaining the ability to disconnect an electric motor for service or maintenance
- Mechanically interlocked motor disconnects ensure proper, fully-seated connections for mobile equipment
- Rotary cam switches provide manual motor changeover or direction change

Enclosed Motor Disconnects
UL 508 enclosed non-fusible disconnects are perfect for safely controlling and disconnecting motors. These 3-pole rotary enclosed disconnect switches, pre-mounted in an enclosure, are available in ratings up to 125A, with a 5kA SCCR rating.
Mechanical Interlocks
Interlocked motor disconnects use pin and sleeve technology to conveniently connect and disconnect mobile equipment safely. They provide an OSHA lockout/tagout point, prevent the connection of devices with different voltage and current ratings, and prevent the installation and removal of a plug when the switch is in the incorrect position.
Motor Disconnects & Manual Motor Controllers
UL 508 open-frame non-fusible disconnects and manual motor controllers can operate while under load to provide safe isolation. Rotary switches, in DIN rail or door-mount options, are available in ratings up to 125A (50hp); handles and shafts are sold separately. Toggle switch models are also available.
Rotary Cam Switches
Motor transfer cam switches allow seamless changeover from one motor to another; motor reversing switches allow smooth direction change. Merz rotary cam switches are available with 2 or 3 poles, with a 5kA SCCR rating.
Disconnect External Handles & Components
Handles for rotary disconnect switches can be direct mounted or externally mounted with the associated shaft. External mounted handles provide extra protection for personnel while disconnecting power. Handles can be purchased individually or in a kit with mounting hardware. Shaft supports and other accessories are available.
