Dual rod cylinders provide additional stability for shear forces or side loads, and prevent rotation at the rod end. The handy T-slots along their length make these double-acting cylinders easy to mount, even to each other to enable convenient x-y motion without machining brackets or extra parts.

With a standard rodded pneumatic cylinder, the rod can freely rotate as it extends and retracts. In most cases, this rotation isn't problematic but if the application requires perfect alignment, it can be an issue. Additionally, in applications where the rod is used to apply force to an object, the inertia of the object can create a lateral force or torque which can produce deflections resulting in inaccurate positioning. Guided rod cylinders provide the solution to unwanted piston deflections by using dual adjacent rods attached to a yoke plate in order to prevent the piston rod from rotating, helping to guarantee the accuracy and repeatability of the linear actuation.
