Pneumatic motion requires clean, dry air with enough flow to provide the required pressure. The process of filtering, regulating and lubricating compressed air is known as air prep. Facilities need air prep at centralized compressors; additional air prep is advantageous at the machine level also.

For industrial pneumatic systems, air preparation (often called "air prep") is a fundamental and often an underappreciated necessity. Clean air at the proper pressure is needed for reliable system operation, and for reducing maintenance costs and downtime.
Pneumatic air filters, regulators, lubricators, soft start/dump valves, air relief valves, and more are available to meet a broad range of pneumatic air supply filtration, air regulation, and compressed air lubrication applications. The modular design of these products allows stand-alone applications and also enables easy field assembly for combining compatible air prep components. Convenient combination units are also available.

Combination air prep units offer multiple functions in a single easy-to-install device, typically including a filter regulator, shutoff, pressure gauge, and lubricator.
Combination pneumatic particulate filters and adjustable pressure regulators offer pneumatic air line filtering and regulation in a single unit.
Particulate and moisture separation air filters are used for cleaning incoming compressed air sources. Coalescing filters can remove water and oil mist.
Air pressure regulators ensure consistent pressure for reliable pneumatic device actuation, and are available in port sizes and adjustable pressure ranges to meet a broad range of applications.
Pneumatic air supply lubrication can increase speed, slow wear, and reduce leakage in and around operating components.
Control valves are manually or solenoid operated valves used to shut off upstream pressure and relieve downstream pressure. Soft-start valves gradually increase air pressure downstream when energized, and quickly dump downstream pressure when de-energized.
Air prep pressure switches fit into an air prep system and allow a control system to monitor whether the air pressure is above or below a certain pressure.
Air prep distribution blocks can provide air takeoff from within any point of the air prep system if it is desired to bypass certain air prep components.
Pressure gauges easily fit into an air prep regulator that does not include a built-in gauge. These gauges allow proper adjustment of regulator pressure.
Precision regulators provide accurate, consistent air pressure for sensitive instruments, and are ideal for industrial environments.
Precision filter / regulators are ideal for systems that require clean, accurate instrument air in industrial environments.
