Magnetic-Inductive Flow Meters
Category Selection
Magnetic-inductive flow meters, or magmeters, use Faraday’s law of induction to measure the flow rate of conductive liquids such as industrial water, drinking water, water-based coolants, water glycol mixtures, and salt water. Current-carrying coils generate a magnetic field in a measuring pipe. When a conductive liquid flows through the magnetic field, it induces a voltage that is measured by two electrodes immersed in the media. The induced voltage is directly proportional to the average flow velocity, and the volumetric flow rate is calculated using the flow velocity and cross-sectional area of the pipe.
Magnetic-inductive flow meters are a versatile and reliable type of flow meter used in a wide variety of industrial applications. They have no moving parts, require little maintenance, and offer a cost-effective option for flow measurement applications where accuracy and reliability are important.
