Motion and Specialty Modules

Applications that require precise positioning or coordinated movements need modules capable of accurately tracking and supplying high-frequency pulse trains.

• High-speed input/counter modules can track extremely fast input pulses, such as encoder signals, independent of the CPU scan, guaranteeing a more accurate pulse count.
• High-speed output modules can provide the pulses needed for precision control with stepper motors used in motion control applications.
• Pulse width modulation modules use varying pulse widths to deliver the required average voltage to control devices, like motors and pumps, while using less power.
• Enhanced motion controllers, like the PS-AMC, provide highly accurate positioning using encoder-fed control (one encoder per axis) and are capable of coordinated motion between up to 4 axis. Used in conjunction with select Productivity CPUs and programmed with the FREE Productivity Suite software, the AMC can supply up to 1MHz of pulse-train command signals to servo or stepper drives for extremely responsive movements in flying cut-off systems, press feeds, in-line bottle filling, label applicators, rotary tables, and more.

An input simulator module is available for testing PLC control logic by supplying manually manipulated input signals. They can also be used to supply ON/OFF commands that initiate specific functions in the PLC.
