Rodless slide linear position sensors have a piston connected to a carriage that rides outside the extruded wall, reducing overall length, making them ideal for small or tight location applications. Magnetostrictive and potentiometer sensors provide feedback based on cursor position.

Rodless Slide
Gefran and ProSense brand rodless-slide linear position sensors are designed for applications where installation length is limited. These sensors feature a cursor that rides within a channel along the top of the sensor housing to provide position feedback.
- Linear potentiometers use a wiper that slides across a resistive element to provide resistance feedback; they are a low-cost option, but wear out over time and must be replaced
- Magnetostrictive linear position sensors provide contactless position feedback and are not subject to mechanical wear

Magnetostrictive Rodless Linear Transducers
With no contact between the transducer elements, there is no wear of mechanical components, which almost guarantees an infinite life. The magnetostrictive technology makes these Gefran WPG series sensors ideal for industrial environments with electromagnetic interference.
- 50 to 500 mm stroke lengths
- Single or dual 0 to 10 VDC or 4 to 20 mA output options
- Appropriate cursor for the application must be ordered separately
- DIN 43650 Form A or M12 quick-disconnect connection options
