IO-Link hubs allow several digital sensors/actuators to connect to an IO-Link master via a sensor/IO-Link cable to provide a low-cost high-quality decentralized installation solution. Use them for basic field I/O signals (no diagnostics), or IO-Link master modules to monitor current/voltage anomalies.

The standard architecture of an IO-Link system consists of an IO-Link master and at least one IO-Link device. The system can also support standard field I/O devices to transmit basic sensing/control data to/from a host controller.
An IO-Link hub can be used to aggregate sensor and actuator signals to be transmitted back to an IO-Link master via a single standard cable, providing an economical solution for field I/O data transmission. IO-Link hubs do not support IO-Link diagnostic information data, except for the Balluff hubs, which do support diagnostic data transmission; however, the IO-Link master module does monitor each channel for current and voltage anomalies. (Balluff and Murrelektronik models are available)
