Diffuse photoelectric sensors with background suppression detect objects by sensing reflected light. They offer reliable detection by ignoring surrounding objects and provide a stable sensing distance regardless of target color. Some models use blue light to accurately sense dark or shiny targets.

Diffuse photoelectric sensors with background suppression detect object presence by emitting a beam of light, typically from an LED, toward a target and sensing the reflected beam. These sensors work similarly to standard diffuse sensors but are designed to distinguish light from the intended target and to filter out reflections from background objects. They are effective in environments with reflective backgrounds but cost more than other photoelectric sensing technologies and require more setup time.
