Level sensors monitor the level of liquids, pellets, and powders in tanks and process systems. Sensors include contact, non-contact and submersible sensors, as well as float and paddle switches. Level controllers add the ability to control alarms, pumps, valves, and other industrial equipment.
Category Selection
Level, the most common process measurement in industry, is typically used to determine volume and track the amount of product available in a vessel or container. Level sensors can monitor the level of a variety of materials including liquids, pellets, powders, and more that are used in process systems. Integrated level controllers monitor inputs from level sensors and operate alarms, pumps, valves, and other industrial equipment when a corrective action is needed. A variety of level sensing technologies is available, including contact and non-contact methods.

Ultrasonic level sensors emit a sound impulse and measure the echo's return time from the material's surface. Unaffected by environments with dirty, sticky, or scaling media, these sensors are available in contact and non-contact versions and for use in hazardous or high-condensation locations.
Guided wave radar level sensors use electromagnetic pulses that travel down a metal probe until they reach the medium, which then reflects the pulse waves back to the probe. The time difference between the transmitted and received pulses is used to compute and display the level with high precision.
Submersible level sensors provide continuous liquid level measurement by sensing the hydrostatic pressure produced by the height of liquid above the sensor, providing a 4-20 mA output signal compatible with PLCs, panel meters, data loggers, and other electronic equipment.

Differential pressure level transmitters offer accurate low-differential pressure measurement of liquid level in pressurized or open tanks for many industrial applications. Models sense up to 400 inches of water column and are easily scaled to different pressure ranges and units of measure.
Vibration fork level switches use tuning fork technology to provide reliable liquid point level detection. They are ideal for monitoring, alarming, and control applications, even when conductivity, turbulence, air bubbles, foam, pressure, temperature, or viscosity changes may be a factor.

Float level switches use magnets and reed switches to determine the level of liquid using the buoyancy of the float. Top-mount float level switches have a permanent magnet inside a hollow float and side-mount float switches have a magnet fixed to the pivot arm of a hollow float. As the liquid rises/falls, the distance between the magnet and the reed switch is varied causing the circuit to open or close. Float switches provide a low-cost solution for liquid-level monitoring applications and offer a variety of constructions compatible with many liquids, temperature ranges, and system pressures.
Rotating paddle level switches provide point level measurement of solid materials using a motor-driven rotating paddle. The switches are actuated when the monitored material covers the blade, impeding its rotation. AC and DC powered versions are available, as well as hazardous location models.
Capacitance level switches provide reliable point level detection of water-based conductive liquids with light coating, crystalizing, or scaling characteristics such as copper sulfate or brine. These universally mounted switches provide dependable ON/OFF control of pumps, valves, or alarms.
Level controllers provide fail-safe control of pumps or valves and are available with discrete I/O for alarms, pump and valve control, or with analog I/O for more accurate level monitoring and control.
Level sensor and controller accessories include a general-purpose digital indicator, free downloadable configuration software, and a USB adapter fob (for programmable level sensors), as well as probes, junction boxes, and other parts and fittings needed for installation and integration.
