DirectLOGIC (Micro to Small, Brick & Modular PLCs) - Communications & Networking
Category Selection
DirectLOGIC CPUs/PLCs have serial and/or Ethernet communication ports built in. These ports support an assortment of industrial protocols including Modbus RTU, serial ASCII, and Modbus TCP. For most applications, the communication ports provided by the CPU/PLC unit is sufficient. For more capability or capacity, networking expansion modules are available to add more serial and/or Ethernet ports. Converter modules are also available to perform any required serial protocol conversions.
DirectLOGIC controllers are not intended for new system development, please consider our latest lines of controllers (Do-more, Productivity, or CLICK) for new installations.

DL05 Series PLC Communication Modules
The D0-DCM Data Communications Module provides two serial communication ports for connecting to a PC, operator interface, etc. or for networking on a DirectNET or Modbus RTU network.
- RJ12 RS232 port can be used for PLC programming, connection to an OI panel or as a single DirectNET or K-sequence slave
- 15-pin front port can be used for RS232/422/485 communications and supports K-sequence, DirectNET, and Modbus RTU protocols
The H0-ECOM100 Ethernet Communication Module is ideal for high-speed PLC networking.
- 10/100 Mbps port with auto-detect, supports TCP/IP, UDP/IP, IPX and Modbus TCP/IP
- Easily configured using NetEdit3 software
The D0-DEVNETS option card transforms any DL05 PLC into a smart device node on your DeviceNET controller network.
DL05 PLC expansion I/O modules can be used with the DL06 PLC and vice versa

DL205 Series PLC Communication Modules
The D2-DCM Data Communications Module provides one serial communication port and can serve as a DirectNET master/slave, DirectNET peer, or a Modbus RTU slave.
- Supports RS-232 and RS-422 communication
The H2-ECOM100 module supports the industry standard Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server protocol in addition to the standard IP and IPX protocols. This allows the DL205 PLC with an H2-ECOM100 module to serve as a client (master) or as a server (slave) on a Modbus TCP/IP Ethernet network.
- 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port for high-speed transmissions
- Easily configured using NetEdit3 software
The three-port H2-SERIO and H2-SERIO-4 modules add serial ports to a DL205 PLC system.
- The H2-SERIO module has three RS-232C ports
- The H2-SERIO-4 module has two RS-232C ports and one RS-422/RS-485 port
- Both support serial ASCII (full-duplex) and Modbus RTU protocols
DL405 Series PLC Communication Modules
All DL405 CPUs support the D4-DCM Data Communications Module that can be configured as a DirectNET master/slave, DirectNET peer, or a Modbus RTU slave.
- Supports both RS-232 and RS-422 communication
The H4-ECOM100 module supports 10/100BaseT and the industry standard Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server protocol.
- 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port for high-speed transmissions
- Easily configured using NetEdit3 software
The F4-MAS-MB Modbus Network Master module allows the DL405 PLC to serve as a network Client for a Modbus RTU network. This module communicates with any network Server using high level Modbus commands.
