For DirectLOGIC applications where the I/O provided by the CPU or CPU base is not sufficient, expansion I/O modules can be used to extend the I/O capacity of the controller system. Select products are available to support existing systems and are not recommended for new installations.

For applications that require more local I/O than what can be supplied by the main CPU base, expansion I/O controller modules allow for additional base groups of I/O to be installed in close proximity to the main base.

DL205 local expansion is accomplished using the D2-CM and D2-EM modules together, along with the appropriate extension cable.
To expand the local I/O count past the limits of the primary base unit, the DL405 system requires one or more D4-EX modules, base units, and associated extension cables.
