DirectLOGIC (Micro to Small, Brick & Modular PLCs) - Expansion I/O
Category Selection
For applications that require more local I/O than what can be supplied by the main CPU base, expansion I/O controller modules allow for additional base groups of I/O to be installed in close proximity to the main base.
DirectLOGIC PLCs are not intended for new system development, please consider our latest lines of controllers (Do-more, Productivity, or CLICK) for new installations.

DL205 Series PLC Expansion I/O Modules
DL205 local expansion is accomplished using the D2-CM and D2-EM modules together, along with the appropriate extension cable.
- The D2-CM module is placed in the CPU slot of each expansion base (up to 4 total) and the rotary switch is used to set a unique expansion base number that is recognized by the DL205 CPU
- The D2-EM expansion unit is attached to the right side of each base in the expansion system, providing the connections needed between base units
- The D2-CM and D2-EM used together can increase the local I/O count of a DL205 system to a maximum of 1280 I/O points
- The maximum total expansion system cable length is 30m (98ft)
DL405 Series PLC Expansion I/O Modules
To expand the local I/O count past the limits of the primary base unit, the DL405 system requires one or more D4-EX modules, base units, and associated extension cables.
- The D4-EX expansion unit is installed in the CPU slot of the expansion base and provides power to the expansion I/O only; connections are made using the built-in ports on the DL405 base unit(s)
- The D4-EX modules can increase the I/O count of the local DL405 PLC to 2048 points
- D4-EX modules can also be used to expand the I/O capacity of H4-EBC remote I/O modules up to 1280 total points
