Microstepping drives provide smooth motion. A wide range of drives are available to suit application complexity and cost, from basic units, to higher performance models, including optional EtherCAT control. Low-voltage drives require DC power; high-bus-voltage models are powered by 120 or 240 VAC (nominal).

Stepper drives provide simple and accurate control of position and speed by converting pulsed control signals from a PLC or other indexers/motion controllers into the appropriate voltage and current needed to drive a stepper motor. A common control method supported by stepper drives is step and direction control, where one signal determines when a motor rotation or "step" is to be performed and the other determines the direction of the motion. Stepper drives often employ advanced microstepping technology in order to smooth the motor motion and stepping response. EtherCAT capable models utilize this high-speed communication protocol and its associated control modes in lieu of pulsed signals for extremely accurate positioning/control.

Ever Motion Solutions Titanio series drives are high performance vector stepper drives that provide industry-leading quality and control. All Ever drives support open loop control (no encoder feedback). Certain models also support closed loop control (a motor mounted encoder provides position feedback to the drive) for stall detection AND position correction. Furthermore, the Titanio drives also have stall detection capability in open loop control mode: the drives use the motor's back EMF to monitor motor movement. This means the Titanio drives can detect and report motor stalling without encoder feedback.
