Stepper Drives

Need help selecting a Stepper System?
Use our selector tool to configure and order.

Microstepping drives provide smooth motion. A wide range of drives are available to suit application complexity and cost, from basic units, to higher performance models, including optional EtherCAT control. Low-voltage drives require DC power; high-bus-voltage models are powered by 120 or 240 VAC (nominal).

Stepper Drives

Category Selection

  • Leadshine 2-phase Digital Stepper Drives
  • SureStep®Stepper Drives
  • Ever®Titanio Stepper Drives

Stepper drives provide simple and accurate control of position and speed by converting pulsed control signals from a PLC or other indexers/motion controllers into the appropriate voltage and current needed to drive a stepper motor. A common control method supported by stepper drives is step and direction control, where one signal determines when a motor rotation or "step" is to be performed and the other determines the direction of the motion. Stepper drives often employ advanced microstepping technology in order to smooth the motor motion and stepping response. EtherCAT capable models utilize this high-speed communication protocol and its associated control modes in lieu of pulsed signals for extremely accurate positioning/control.

Ever Motion Solutions®
Stepper Drives

Newest Additions!

  • Ever Motion Solutions EtherCAT stepper drives

Ever Motion Solutions Titanio series drives are high performance vector stepper drives that provide industry-leading quality and control. All Ever drives support open loop control (no encoder feedback). Certain models also support closed loop control (a motor mounted encoder provides position feedback to the drive) for stall detection AND position correction. Furthermore, the Titanio drives also have stall detection capability in open loop control mode: the drives use the motor's back EMF to monitor motor movement. This means the Titanio drives can detect and report motor stalling without encoder feedback.

  • Pulse input models support pulse & direction, or CW/CCW pulses
  • EtherCAT® models support all popular EtherCAT control modes:
    • Control modes include homing modes, interpolated position mode, velocity mode, along with several cyclic and profile modes
    • In Cyclic modes, the drives receive position, velocity, or torque updates every EtherCAT cycle (minimum cycle time: 500µs)
    • In Profile modes, the drives receive a setpoint for each motion, with accel, decel, and speed settings to determine the complete motion profile
  • Microstep resolution: 200-51200ppr (LW3D) 200-65536ppr (all others)
  • Monitoring of motor back EMF enables step loss (stall) detection without an encoder
  • Proprietary, patented algorithms use sinusoidal current control to:
    • Reduce parasitic phase current harmonics
    • Reduce audible motor noise
    • Smooth motor movement, regardless of microstep resolution
    • Dampen motor vibrations and resonances
    • Reduce heating and increase efficiency of the motor and drive
  • Increased positioning accuracy
  • Better and more constant torque output at all speeds
  • Protection against short circuit and open circuit
  • Alarms for over/under voltage, temperature, short circuit
  • Basic setup with DIP switches
  • Advanced software setup with FREE (downloadable) software
  • Compatible with SureStep motors in NEMA 14, 17, 23, 34, and 42 sizes
